We left off last talking about the importance of Hearing the Voice of God, as we Share our Faith with others.
We learned that one of the greatest benefits of our salvation is to be able to hear God speak to us personally and that there can be no intimate relationship with our heavenly Father without being able to hear from Him. As a matter of fact, Deuteronomy 4:36 teaches us that God made us “spirit” first, in order for us to hear His voice and receive divine instructions while we are here on earth.
Learning to clearly distinguish God's voice is major in our walk with Him. It will be hard to witness in the Power of God and not be able to hear where God is directing you to witness without hearing His voice.
We also learned what Jesus said about hearing His voice. In John 10:3-5, Jesus said that His sheep hear His voice. He didn't say His sheep CAN hear His voice or SHOULD hear His voice. Jesus was making it very clear to the reader that His sheep DO hear His voice. Therefore, all true believers can and do hear the voice of God. It’s just that most don't recognize what they are hearing as being God's voice.
The Four Voices We Hear - There are actually four types of "voices" which we hear speaking to us. The voice that is perhaps the most obvious is our “Own Voice”. Another type of voice which fights for our attention is the "Voice" of Other People”. The third type of voice is the "Voice" of the Devil. The fourth and final type of voice is the most important, but it is also the most less heard and that is the “Voice of God”.
God does not speak to us in our minds, He speaks to us in our spirits because that is where the Holy Spirit lives. God speaks to us in our spirit man but we process what we hear through our own mind.
